years ago things were different, people actually went to yard sales, but times they have changed.

Back in the 70s flea markets were in their hay day, in fact, that is when most of the flea markets were built, however today, we are seeing a resurgence of flea markets, bartering, trading, selling buying, it is all on the table.

One of the reasons that flea markets are beginning to really take off “again” is the economy, often you can find what you are looking for at a flea market for as little as ten percent of the price retail, also sellers are realizing that they have attics and closets full of stuff that they really need to do something with.

The old saying one mans trash is another’s treasure, has never been more true.

On a recent trip I noticed what used to be an abandoned, flea market, there were tables, that were sagging in the middle, from sitting outside un-used, in the rain for years and years, and as I looked I was amazed at what I saw, thousands of tables, and even more cars, amazing, I could not believe what I was seeing, there were at least three hundred cars at this place, and even more people all walking about in the sunlight, enjoying a day of bargaining in the afternoon breeze.

Now only was it interesting to watch but seeing the people buying and selling and in many cases haggling..

It was like I had gone back in time, but I began to wonder what was going on so looking at the sellers, I began to realize that of course something had changed, the tables were repaired, there was concessions, there were people selling all the things they used to sell, it was a revival of the old barter trade buy and sell system of the seventies.

The reason?

Simple, people are sick and tired of paying full price, at least the higher price that retailers are trying to get people to pay, I saw everything you can imagine, from health and beauty goods, to tools, antiques, and so many other things, that you just cant buy them all, (though you want to)
